Tales of Grindea Update #15: Questing

Last week I mentioned four chapters with quests where your reactions to the world will guide Ribbon’s outlook and how the story ends. Well, what exactly are those quests then?

Your first quest will be venturing into Pumpkin Woods, where you’ll come across the Black Ferrets. Here, you’ll get the option to let them rob you, or to fight them – both decisions that will affect the story later on.

In the next chapter, you have to choose one of two “charity” quests, where one is an escort quest where you’ll have to guide a NPC (probably Chika from the farm) on an adventure, and the other is a fetch quest where you’ll deliver food to the poor family in Seasonne.

In the fourth chapter you’ll tag along your cousin who is on a quest to investigate som ancient tech they recently found in Mount Bloom. You’ll have gotten som initial hints and details on what’s going on with this tech in the previous chapters, but here it takes a main focus.

In chapter five you’re dealing with the aftermath of what you discovered in the previous chapter, and is sent on a basic quest to visit either Robin and Lil’ Jon or Mamarino depending on which path you choose. This chapter also includes a throwback to your earlier encounter with the Black Ferrets, tying that storyline up as well!

More info on each of these chapters will be available as I begin the first draft, but each of these chapters will have at least one major decision that will either alter your path or affect Ribbon and the ending. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Since in the original game we already explored those areas, it would be nice to have quests that allow us to go to new locations, like the Merchant Isle for example.

And since the game emphasizes causation, what do you think about a quest that makes you accidentally enter a time rift (like the one in Tai Ming but in a different place), doing something there that makes where that place prospers or declines in the future depending on what the player chooses. I bet that will affect Ribbon’s personality quite a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Those are some pretty cool ideas! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€ As for Merchant Isles, it’s very possible we’ll do a similar project later on that has the player explore that part of the world, but for this project we wanna focus on the world of Grindea as we know it ๐Ÿ™‚
