A Turn of Events & Happy New Year

So the plan was for me to spend christmas and new year’s at my in-laws, but as it happens fate had other ideas!

One day after our christmas celebrations I got a phone call about the heating in our house breaking down, with a radiator bursting and there being water everywhere. We quickly decided we had to go back home to take care of things and try to get a hold of a repairman. We went back home the very next day and the last couple of days have been all about damage controlling, calling people and writing long emails to the insurance company, among other things.

It’s been a bunch of stressful days, but things are mostly under control for now. Just waiting for the repairman to see what can be done about the heating pump as that completely broke down in the chaos. Needless to say, I’m going to try and enjoy new years quietly, hoping nothing more crazy happens.

In some ways I’m happy this all happened before the new years rather than after. 2022 may have ended poorly, but perhaps that means 2023 will get a new, hopeful start hopefully involving fewer disasters. Fingers crossed, anyway!

I hope you all have a great end to 2022 and an even better beginning of 2023. See you on the other side 🙂
